Darker Than the Darkness (1991) is an adventure module designed for the Lord of the Rings Adventure Game by Iron Crown Enterprises (ICE). 

Overview
Role: It is the first sequel to the original Lord of the Rings Adventure Game (which started with the Dawn Comes Early module).
Format: The module uses a user-friendly, "pick-your-path" storytelling format designed for a Game Master to lead players through. It is intended to be accessible for beginners while serving as a bridge to more complex systems like Middle-earth Role Playing (MERP).
Setting: The adventure takes place on the downs southeast of Bree. 

Story and Gameplay
Plot: The story involves two main narrative threads: exploring a barrow (and fighting wights) and confronting a Bandit-king who controls the Great East Road.
Characters: It features appearances by Gandalf and is generally considered a "railroad" style adventure, which helps guide new players through combat and role-playing basics.
Legacy: The story continues in a subsequent module titled Over the Misty Mountains Cold
